about

"please give them a warm welcome: jason davis & the new philosophers..."

and with that, we are off!

start off docile to ease those attending into an evening of bliss and "ladies' choice" covers of air supply's greatest hits? nay, say i! the unwashed masses are greeted with guitar tones so vile that even the filthiest of hellions cower in terror. sub-harmonic belches join howling shrieks and winged whole tone spirits proclaiming the end of days and impending doom. certainly miles away from "all out of love"...

ah, but there IS light at the end of this tunnel of suffering...in the form of limburger jazz! a progression that depicts a wink, nod, and double snaps in glorious hotel bar, leisure suit goodness. even attempts to go “out” are much too cliché for these swingin’ rhythmic cats (dig those sliding fully-diminished stabs of jazz 101)...

yet all is intentional, in jest, and meant to lull those of witness into comfort and hope before smackin’ ’em upside d’head with the assault to follow…
